Acid Mist Suppressant Additive
Fluoroacrylate Chemistry
FLAMINGO 1011

Designed to suppress sulfuric-acid mist at its source by lowering electrolyte surface tension and helping anode-generated oxygen escape with less bubble-burst aerosol.

Chemistry Fluoroacrylate
Function Specialty surface-active chemistry
Application Electrolyte Surface
Primary Focus Copper Focus
Use Alone or with plastic pellets
Control the mist where it begins
In sulfuric-acid electrowinning electrolytes, oxygen bubbles produced at the anode rise and burst at the liquid surface. These bursting bubbles eject fine acidic droplets into the workshop atmosphere.
01

Oxygen evolves

Electrochemical reactions generate oxygen bubbles at the anode.

02

Bubbles reach the surface

Without treatment, bursting bubbles project electrolyte droplets into the air.

03

Flamingo 1011 intervenes

Lower surface tension helps oxygen escape smoothly, reducing formation of sulfuric-acid aerosol.

A clearer tank environment
Large-format process visualization: untreated bubble bursting and visible aerosol at left; a treated, clearer electrolyte surface at right.

Untreated: visible mist

Treated: reduced aerosol release

RAPID MIST REDUCTION AT LOW PPM
The application document plots a steep reduction in measured acid-mist level as suppressant concentration approaches roughly 10 ppm, followed by a low plateau.

Concentration in electrolyte vs. acid-mist level

Acid mist level declines as Flamingo 1011 concentration increases

Operational benefits

Lower airborne acid mist

Targets aerosol formation at the electrolyte surface.

Cleaner workshop environment

Helps limit exposure and corrosive atmospheric load.

Equipment protection

Reduced acid-mist burden may help limit workshop corrosion.

Process-compatible approach

Source document reports no negative influence on extraction and electrowinning.

No pellet blockage issue

Can be used alone, while plastic pellets remain an optional combination.

Application & dosing
Introduce from the top of the rich-electrolyte storage tank. Temporary surfactant foam during addition is described as normal. Confirm final dosage under actual plant conditions.
INITIAL FILL

1.25–1.65 L

Per 100 m³ of total electrolyte volume. Larger workshops may require dosing nearer the upper limit for even mixing.

DAILY REPLENISHMENT

130–150 mL

Per tonne of daily cathode production, preferably replenished continuously at the same addition point.

The best addition quantity depends on electrolyte cleanliness, circulation/open-circuit conditions and observed acid-mist level. Adjust progressively to achieve control with economical consumption.
Electrowinning applications
The supplied document identifies sulfuric-acid electrowinning of copper, zinc, lead and other non-ferrous metals.
