BIOX Series · Advanced material protection
ANTI-MICROBIAL
ADDITIVES
Silver-based inorganic additives and surface-bonding technologies engineered to build lasting hygiene protection into plastics, coatings, textiles, construction systems and high-touch products.
HYGIENE THAT
BECOMES PART OF THE MATERIAL.
BIOX additives are incorporated into a polymer, coating, textile finish, adhesive or composite to inhibit microbial colonisation at the treated surface. The technology is selected according to substrate, processing temperature, physical form and the intended regulatory market.
Unlike a temporary cleaning treatment, an appropriately formulated antimicrobial additive remains integrated with the finished article.
Powder
Masterbatch, extrusion, moulding, rubber and dry blends.
Slurry
Waterborne coatings, inks, adhesives and textile finishes.
High Heat
Silver-ion glass for demanding polymer processing.
Surface Bonding
Quaternary silane chemistry for durable treated surfaces.
Four routes to
material protection.
Each platform offers a distinct balance of release profile, thermal stability, compatibility and application method.
Silver
Zeolite
A porous inorganic carrier provides controlled availability of silver ions for sustained antimicrobial performance.
Silver-Ion
Glass
Thermally stable glass-carrier technology suited to engineering polymers and higher-temperature processing.
Silver Zirconium
Phosphate
Robust inorganic carrier selected for demanding chemical, thermal and durability requirements.
Quaternary
Silane
Organosilane surface chemistry designed to anchor antimicrobial functionality onto compatible substrates.
Seven grades.
One selection logic.
Choose first by substrate and process, then confirm target organisms, regulatory requirements and validation protocol.
Match the grade
to the process.
This preliminary guide supports screening. Final selection should be confirmed by compatibility, efficacy and regulatory testing.
| Grade | Technology | Physical Form | Best-Fit Systems | Key Selection Driver |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GPZ-10N | Silver Zeolite | Powder | Plastics, rubber, masterbatch | Balanced general-purpose route |
| GPZ-10D | Silver Zeolite | Powder | Construction, polymers, PU | Durability-focused selection |
| GPWS-10N | Silver-Ion | Water slurry | Paint, adhesive, textile finish | Waterborne compatibility |
| GPSG-10DL | Silver-Ion Glass | Powder | Engineering polymers | High processing temperature |
| GPZP-10D | Silver Zr Phosphate | Powder | Technical polymers, filtration | Thermal and chemical stability |
How inorganic silver helps
protect a surface.
Controlled availability
Moisture at the treated surface enables controlled availability of silver ions from the inorganic carrier.
Cell-envelope interaction
Silver ions interact with microbial cell structures and interfere with normal membrane function.
Metabolic disruption
Interactions with proteins and enzymes inhibit essential microbial processes and reproduction.
Sustained surface protection
The embedded carrier supports continuing activity when the finished formulation is properly designed and validated.
Protection across
materials and
markets.
BIOX technologies can be integrated wherever microbial growth, odour or surface hygiene affects product performance.
Plastics & Polymers
PP, PE, PET, PVC, ABS, EVA, engineering resins and masterbatch.
Paints & Coatings
Interior coatings, primers, lacquers, epoxies and protective finishes.
Construction
Waterproofing, grouts, tile adhesives, PU foams and sealants.
Textiles & Nonwovens
Medical fabrics, sanitary products, footwear linings and carpets.
Inks & Packaging
Printing inks, flexible packaging, laminating systems and paper coatings.
Healthcare Surfaces
Equipment housings, high-touch components and hygiene-focused articles.
Water & Filtration
Filters, membranes and polymer components exposed to wet conditions.
Rubber & PU Foam
Shoe components, insulation foam, gaskets and automotive elastomers.
Validate the finished
article - not only the
additive.
Antimicrobial efficacy depends on additive concentration, dispersion, substrate, surface availability, target organism and test conditions. Claims must align with local regulations and finished-product test data.
Before commercial launch
- Confirm compatibility and colour stability in the actual formulation.
- Establish dosage through laboratory screening and ageing studies.
- Test the finished article using the relevant antimicrobial standard.
- Review food-contact, healthcare or consumer-product requirements separately.
- Use only claims supported by applicable jurisdictional approvals and data.
