DUSTZEN®
ASH
Water-dilutable polymer-emulsion technology tailored for fly ash, ash ponds and power-plant ash mounds—helping bind ultra-fine particles, stabilise exposed surfaces and reduce windblown emissions.
Turn a highly erodible surface into a cohesive protective layer.
Fly ash is light, fine and readily lifted by dry wind. DUSTZEN Ash wets and penetrates the exposed layer, then develops a flexible polymer network as water evaporates. The resulting surface treatment helps limit fugitive emissions without attempting to solidify the full ash deposit.
Ultra-Fine Particle Control
Helps bind the lightweight fraction most likely to become airborne.
Flexible Surface Film
Designed to tolerate limited drying shrinkage and natural settlement.
Reduced Water Dependence
Extends control beyond the short wetting period of plain water.
Targeted Treatment
Concentrates polymer on exposed ash surfaces and high-wind zones.
Dry ash can become airborne with very little disturbance.
Low bulk density, very fine particles and large exposed areas make ash disposal zones difficult to manage with intermittent water spraying alone.
Rapid Entrainment
Very small ash particles are readily carried by wind across the plant boundary.
Short Water Life
Plain water may evaporate quickly from hot, open ash surfaces.
Large Exposed Areas
Broad ponds, mounds and inactive cells require consistent coverage planning.
Fugitive Emissions
Visible ash plumes can affect workers, nearby communities and environmental performance.
Four stages from wetting to ash-surface stabilisation
Dilute
Prepare the selected concentration in clean water under controlled agitation.
Distribute
Apply uniformly over the exposed ash with calibrated spray equipment.
Bind
The polymer surrounds loose fines and increases cohesion within the upper layer.
Stabilise
After drying, a flexible treated surface helps resist wind erosion and dusting.
Match treatment strength to ash condition and exposure.
The optimum concentration and application volume depend on ash fineness, moisture, surface porosity, slope, wind, ambient temperature, rainfall and the required protection period.
Use the stronger end for very dry fly ash, severe wind or longer protection. Higher dilution may suit damp ash, short-duration control or maintenance coats. Confirm performance through a controlled field trial.
Active Ash
Handling
Apply lighter, repeatable treatment to transfer zones, newly deposited ash and frequently disturbed areas.
Inactive Pond /
Mound
Build a continuous surface layer over the final profile, edges and wind-facing areas.
High-Wind /
Long-Term
Evaluate stronger concentration, multiple light coats or increased coverage while controlling runoff.
Build uniform coverage without flooding the ash.
Multiple controlled passes are preferable to heavy local wetting. The goal is complete surface coverage, adequate penetration and safe drainage.
Survey the Area
Map exposed ash, slopes, cracks, drainage paths and prevailing wind direction.
Prepare Solution
Charge clean water first, add DUSTZEN Ash slowly and mix gently.
Apply in Passes
Use sprinklers, booms, cannons or hoses with overlapping spray patterns.
Allow Drying
Permit water evaporation and film formation without traffic or fresh deposition.
Inspect & Repair
Check crust continuity, wind-facing edges, cracks and weathered sections.
Confirm performance on the actual ash and site conditions.
Recommended Field-Trial Checks
- Uniform wetting without ponding or runoff
- Surface continuity after complete drying
- Resistance to representative wind exposure
- Behaviour after drying, rainfall and thermal cycles
- Cracking caused by settlement or shrinkage
- Compatibility with ash handling and reclamation
- Time until spot repair or reapplication is needed
Assess site drainage, water management, local approvals and environmental suitability before full-scale use.
Targeted protection across power-plant ash management.
Ash Ponds & Dewatered Cells
Exposed pond beaches, dry margins and inactive sections vulnerable to wind erosion.
Fly-Ash Mounds
Dry stacks, temporary storage areas, embankments and final-profile surfaces.
Handling & Disposal Zones
Transfer areas, ash yards and broad disposal surfaces requiring repeatable spraying.
