FLUORINATED
CONFORMAL COATINGS

Low-viscosity, fast-drying barrier technology for transparent moisture and liquid repellency on complex electronic components and assemblies.

Ultra-Thin Film Fast Drying Fine-Feature Coverage

Repel liquids while preserving component geometry.

Fluorinated ether-based conformal coatings deposit a very thin hydrophobic film with minimal dimensional impact, supporting coverage of connectors, sensors, switches and densely populated assemblies.

These products are fluorinated technologies. Review current PFAS declarations, regulatory status, solvent handling requirements and destination-market obligations for the exact grade before selection.

COATING QUALIFICATION

An ultra-thin film interrupts liquid wet-out.

LIQUID REPELLENCY
S-386 wetting mechanism
SUBSTRATE + ULTRA-THIN FUNCTIONAL BARRIER
Lower surface energy at the electronic interface.
01 · DEPOSITION

Reach Fine Features

Low viscosity supports flow around leads, edges and complex geometries.

02 · EVAPORATION

Remove the Carrier

Controlled evaporation leaves a low-build functional film.

03 · REPELLENCY

Reduce Liquid Wet-Out

The treated surface resists spreading of water and compatible liquids.

04 · ACCESS

Preserve Geometry

Minimal film build is useful near switches, contacts and miniature parts.

Design coverage around functional keep-out areas.
STEP 1

Clean

Remove moisture, oils, dust and incompatible flux residues.

STEP 2

Mask

Protect contacts, optical areas, test points and mating interfaces.

STEP 3

Apply

Use dip, spray or controlled selective deposition.

STEP 4

Dry & Inspect

Confirm evaporation, coverage and absence of trapped solvent.

Selection Answers

Is this a PFAS-free coating?
No. It is a fluorinated ether-based technology. Obtain current composition and regulatory declarations for the exact grade.
Can it coat electrical contacts?
Contact interfaces generally require keep-out control unless the device maker has qualified coating on the specific contact design.
Does an ultra-thin film replace every conformal coating?
No. It is best suited to repellency and minimal-film-build requirements. Heavy chemical, abrasion or dielectric-duty applications may require a different coating architecture.
